Favorite jewelry of 2003
This is a picture of the jewelry I found in the first 4 months of detecting in 2003.
Large Man's Silver Ring
This was found in a local park and was not very deep. When my detector first went over it, I thought it would be two clad quarters laying on top of each other. I used a screwdriver to poke the ground and was surprised to see this one pop out. It's larger than a man's size 11 ring and is stamped "925" (silver). This is one of my favorite jewelry finds.
Man's Gold Ring
A friend of mine (Ray) invited me to up to one of his "secret spots" and he was running a little late that day. We planned to meet at one location before going to his new spot, so I thought I would spend some time swinging the coil over some turf while I waited. This was about 3 1/2 inches down in the turf and it sounded like a pull-tab, but there was no variation in the signal. It also happens to be the perfect size for my ring finger.
Indian Chief Ring
"Not every find is a good find, but some are better than a corroded zinc penny. I found this in the turf and it was down several inches deep. It was very tarnished... too bad it's not gold. It's probably brass."
