- Spanish Colonial 1 reale (estimated date ~1780 - 1820)
This is my oldest coin find. It's a little smaller than a U.S. quarter. A friend of mine (TomT.) is a real history buff. He discovered the site where this was found and told me it had Indian history, Spanish colonial history, and some early California traffic too. It was found far away from any currently populated area. When I saw the shield, I knew I had a Spanish reale.
