Barber Quarters
-
1895 S
This was found at a site in San Jose on San Carlos. Many hunters detected at this site, but I happened to stop by after the crews removed a big pile of trash that had been covering about a 10' x 10' area. I turned on the XLT and it was the first signal I got.

1909 S
This was found at a park in San Jose. Some dirt had been moved into a pile and I stopped by to wave the coil around it. I got the solid quarter hit because it was right on the surface, but I didn't even see the coin because it was so dirty.
Barber Dimes
-
1893 S
The was the first Barber dime I found. It's in poor shape but it's always fun to find an "oldie."

1893 S
My second 1893-S Barber dime and this one is in great shape compared to the first one.

1900 S
When I first started detecting, I started looking for the oldest parks close to home and where I work. This dime was found in an old park that opened in the 1950's but there happened to be earlier "traffic" there. I called up a friend of mine (TomE. = he happens to be the one that introduced me to this hobby) and asked him if he wanted to hunt with me that afternoon. We detected close to an old tree, and while he decided to take a break to have a drink, I found this dime and yelled "Tom! Barber!" It was fun to find this one with my first detecting "instructor."

1907
This was a deep turf find. The XLT gave me a quiet "peep," I pinpointed it, saw it was several inches down, and started to dig. I wasn't sure what it was going to be but this was a nice surprise after digging it out.
